Announcement of the Call of The Reverend Phillip Channing Ellsworth, Jr.
as the Eight Rector of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Belvedere, CA

Dear St. Stephen’s Vestry, Parishioners, and Staff,

I am humbled by the opportunity to follow the faithful rectors who have led St. Stephen’s Church over its history. It will be an honor to celebrate the Sacraments with you; to proclaim with you the Gospel of Jesus Christ; to declare God’s forgiveness to the penitent; to pronounce God’s blessing; and to love and serve you as living members of the mystical Body of our Lord Jesus Christ. I praise God for this calling, and I thank the Search Committee and the Vestry, Teri Pollitt especially, for confidence in discerning the same. With them, I ask your prayers for St. Stephen’s Parish, for my family, and for me.
There’s a wideness in God’s mercy that is wider than the sea. Encouraged by your witness and companionship, it will be my privilege and responsibility to nourish you from the riches of that mercy and strengthen you to glorify God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, in this life, and in the life to come.
God bless you!
Father Ellsworth

A Message from your Senior Warden

April 25, 2016

Dear St. Stephen’s Congregation:

At yesterday’s services, I had the pleasure of announcing that the Reverend Phillip Ellsworth has accepted the call as the eighth Rector of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church. Phil comes to St. Stephen’s after serving as Associate Rector of St. Francis Episcopal Church in Potomac, Maryland since 1998. His complete biography is printed on the right.

I would like to thank the Vestry for its dedication to the discernment process and representing the Parish so well. All of us are looking forward to working with Phil as we begin our ministry together later this summer. Please join us on Sunday, August 21st when Phil will celebrate his first services with us and everyone will have the opportunity to meet his wonderful wife, Victoria. Phil and Victoria will be relocating to our Rectory in early August.

I would also like to thank our Parish community for their prayers, words of encouragement, and steadfast support during the long year of transition as we searched for our new spiritual leader. Finally, I would like to, once again, extend our gratitude to the Search Committee for their diligent work over the past ten months that culminated in our call to Phil.

Yours in faith,
Teri Pollitt
Senior Warden
