ABOUT THE GARDEN

“Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.”

–Genesis 2:7

Our Earth and Altar ministry represents our commitment to steward the land, provide food for the underserved, and cultivate a deeper appreciation of the earth’s resources. Vegetables are tended to year-round, and donations are made to the food pantries at Ritter Center and in Marin City.

FROM IDEA TO GARDEN

Earth and Altar Garden was created in 2013 as an extension of our commitment to sustainability and the responsible use of earth’s resources. We encourage recycling and composting at church and home and encourage members to join us in the planting, harvesting, and donating of vegetables.

As we steward this patch of earth, we come together as families, friends, and neighbors to connect with each other as much as the environment.

COMMUNITY GARDENING

“As all the earth is a garden, Lord, we ask that you bless this small piece of the earth. As your Light shines upon us and upon this garden, giving us life, likewise help us to give light and life to others.”

—from the Litany for Rogation Day

In our eighth year of environmental ministry, we welcome all who wish to participate. Anyone can become a gardener, and children are especially encouraged to take an active role in the tending of our Earth + Altar Garden.
