St Stephen’s COVID-19 Important Notice

We have developed two policies to address the risks of the highly contagious delta variant. First, we will inform parishioners promptly by email if there has been a potential exposure at the campus. Second, we will now require all people who attend in-person services or other church events to be fully vaccinated (in addition to all wearing masks indoors). At this point the vaccination requirement will be enforced using the honor system. Churches in San Francisco are required to check vaccination status, and it is possible that we will begin that practice as well once we learn more.

Simply Jesus [formerly The Living Faith]

10 Thursday Sessions

Begins September 16, 6:00 PM

No class 11/25

We begin the evening at 6p with wine, cheese, and a casual supper in Kimball Hall. We then watch a short video and discuss it together, all questions welcomed.

Click this PDF to read about the class

A lively conversation with the One who promised, “Lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Facilitated and led by the Rector, Phil Ellsworth.

How were the books of the Bible chosen? What was the Roman world like during Jesus’ life and ministry? And how are Christians to live out their faith together in a world vitiated by strife and division?

Join the Rector in this course engaging your questions about the Faith, designed as it is to scratch where you itch. We will meet for 10 weeks on Thursdays at 6:00 PM, [except for 9.23, and 11.25], beginning with a glass of wine (or sparkling water) and cheese, and a simple, coordinated supper in Kimball Hall by the fireplace with the windows, and our minds, open.

Each week, we’ll watch a short video featuring one of the great biblical scholars and, the sometime Bishop of Durham (UK), the Rt Rev’d Dr Tom Wright. Then, we’ll engage one another in a no-holds barred, lively conversation.

This course is intended for anyone interested in learning more about the Jesus they never knew. And we’ll dismiss each evening for serious fun for those who are game: illuminated bocce ball—that ancient Roman game—in Belvedere Park.

The course begins on Thursday, September 16. By enrolling using the button below, you pledge to attend at least seven of the ten sessions.
